Why We Developed MWPS

Often dedicated processors, operating systems and vendor supplied hardware leads to stove-pipe warfighter solutions on existing systems carried by the warfighter. These solutions are not equipped to allow additional software much less the needs of experimental software or support of Agile tech sprint. Nor are they equipped to handle rapid iteration and Silicon Valley minimum viable product or MVP trials.

Additionally, while the processing power of cellphones has advanced, it is often difficult to prototype complex video, machine learning, SDR and other complex algorithms on those devices where different restrictions on the mobile platform may be placed. Kopis Mobile developed the MWPS to address those needs.

The MWPS uses standard modules to provide a wearable X-86 based computer that can run numerous operating systems and advanced algorithms. It is designed to use a cellphone and dedicated applications like ATAK as the end-user interface, but removes the requirement that future complex algorithms will be run on often constrained cell-phones like devices.

The MWPS is basically an X-86 based “off load” engine, allowing developers to stay in a more developer friendly X-86 environment and to develop code based on readily available open source operating systems or use any number of open source libraries that were used for a non-critical code development portion of their solution. It does this while also solving the problem of where that code will run in initial user testing.
